Binder recommendations??? To bind or not to bind too?
« on: December 30, 2007, 10:10:00 pm »
Hi! Each PS has thier own views on compression garments. I rec\'d one from my PS and woke up in it after surgery. I have read a few where a few others weren\'t required to wear one. I only wore mine for 3 wks 24/7, then only at night for 3 wks. Best of luck!!---

I\'m supposed to wear mine for 4 weeks straight, but can take it off for comfort, and I definitely do that.  I take my binder and bra off at least twice a day for an hour, not counting showers.  I cannot wait to try my Spanx, though!---

I wear one because it feels better.  It holds you in when you are sore.  There is a strange feeling of your skin pulling away from your muscle (or whatever it is in there) if you don\'t wear it.  I went without one yesterday, but my tummy felt very strange all day.---

I couldn\'t imagine not wearing one!  I woke up from surgery in a garment that my PS provided.  It had a velcro crotch and two zippers and eye hooks down either side of my BB.  I ordered another one on www.contourmd.com and am waiting for another one from www.marenagroup.com
My PS said to wear it 24/7 except for showers for 4-6 weeks as it helps the skin mold to its new shape.
Each PS is so different huh?---

I wouldn\'t do anything without clearing it through your PS first. I\'ve read that some think that wearing a binder keeps you from using your stomach muscles so they get weak. I was told to put mine on 24 hours after surgery and I wore it until a week after my last drain came out (about 7 weeks). My PS wanted me to wear it to help with the swelling.---

I too could not imagine not wearing my compression garment!  Wore it for 6 weeks 24/7.  Just made me feel so \'put together\', and also felt good because the incision was not rubbing on clothing.  It helps mold your new shape, and controls the swelling very well. I wore one from right out of the surgery suite - until 2 days ago.  Now I\'m wearing Spanx brief that comes up high to just under the bra.  Seems so silly, here we are with these flat tummies and we still like to wear these tight girdles - months later.  Well at least wearing them now with the flab cut away, they fit nice and smooth -- no sqwishing the fat and flab in places it had no where to go.---

"TOTALLYYYYY". haha. i remember that sad feeling. it either ended up over the top or jus squashed - spanx did the best they could under the strain, er, i mean circumstances. lol

i woke up in recovery with a nice black compression garmet that zips up each side. it psychologically makes me feel supported...never knew it was helping shape my new bod. i think mine is almost kinda cute - it\'s black & actually has a little lace on the legs. haha, hey they tried! good thing cuz my 1st nite home i stood up, and w/o the gut my loose jammie bottoms fell down to my ankles and my sweet BF was all "uh honey". great, my peek a boo crotch must have looked LOVELY! not quite the reveal i was planning.

i\'m not sure what myPS will advise until i go in thurs to assess if he feels he can remove the drains. i hope so. & i cant wait 2 c the incisions & what/where my new BB is (im kinda assuming its where it used 2 b just wont look like a collasped cake gone wrong). lol!

do u think binders r or r not recommended depending on the extent of the TT maybe? like mayb not so much for a mini?

just wonderin...---

Every PS has different instructions....so weird huh?  I wore my binder for 3 weeks and now am wearing Spanx for another 3 weeks.  I like others on here cannot imagine being without one. When I remove the Spanx to wash them I feel so insecure that I put the old binder on for support. Good luck to you.  Mary---

HaHaHa!!  That same thing happened to me -- jammies fell right when I stood up!

Maybe.  Also, PS that are using the Progressive Tension Sutures technique (PTS) are sometimes not using garments.  My PS used the PTS (eliminates the need for drains), but still uses the compression garment to help mold the skin to the new sculpted work just done.

Are you wearing a Design Veronique -- from your discription, it wouldn\'t like mine.  See my photos - I\'m wearing it.
