Over doing it!
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:30:00 pm »
You\'ll be fine....  I overdid it too, the first time I felt good enough to actually do something.  I had to rest up for a couple of days after that, but I was okay.  Overdoing it causes swelling and fatigue this early on, but you\'ll recover.  Baby that tummy for awhile.  Those internal stitches are strong, but they will let you know if you do too much!  You just had major surgery.  It doesn\'t matter that it was elective.  You need to pamper yourself as long as you can.  Real life will return fast enough.  Of course, you had to go out and celebrate hubby\'s birthday.  I think that the dancing was a must!  However...let the housework go for now!!!!  Who cares what your house looks like while you heal?!?!?!---

One more thing...where are you in ND (if you don\'t mind sharing)?  I have TONS of family there.  My Mom is from ND and all of her sisters and cousins and my grandma all live in the Bismarck/Mandan/Fort Rice area.  We love to visit in the summer, but burrrrr....it sure is cold there now!!!!  My cousin and his wife were just driving out to the Prairie Knights Casino for dinner (yesterday) and were rear-ended in a blizzard.  Their truck flipped over into a snowbank.  Thank God everyone is okay (his wife is pregnant).  They are only bruised, but fine.---

Chris- I\'m sorry to hear about your family, I will pray for them\":-)\" I live in Bismarck now, but grew up in Mandan(as you know it\'s a trip across a bridge between the two towns). The weather isn\'t too bad right now but once January, February come around it will get colder.

Thank you ladies for your support, I will try to rest a little more and do less. The night was fun though, especially when we got home\";-)\" I\'m sure that didn\'t add to any of this swelling either, LOL!!

Hey Chris and Shortcake -- I\'m originally from ND!  Wahpeton.  My DH is from Bismarck! I drove out to Bismarck/Mandan this past May to visit friends.  I have family in Wop and Fargo. My next goal in life is to go back to ND and run my first Marathon, the Fargo Marathon in May.  But not this May, since I did the TT/lipo I can\'t start training for it this year.---

Girlfriend, I am right there with you.  Had my surgery same day as you and I am finding it harder to take it easy now because I feel pretty good.  Plus my DH is DONE helping me out around the house unless I ask him to (and then it is with an attitude).  I think he thinks because this was "elective" I don\'t get as long to recover.

We have to just follow what our bodies tell us.  If you feel good, do stuff.  If you are paying for it later, then you have to rest up.  We will get this down eventually.  It seems from the more experienced girls that it takes a loooonnnng time to get back to normal.  Hang in there!---

Oh cool is that!  I never meet anyone from there (well...rarely anyway).  My relatives always laugh that "40 below keeps the riffraff out".  I\'m guessing they mean me because I certainly couldn\'t handle it!!!  60 degrees and I\'m putting on sweaters and turning\' up the heater!  I used to try to get there once a year to see my family, especially my grandmother (she just turned 90).  However, since going back to work and my kids\' baseball all summer, it is getting harder to do it.  I haven\'t been back in a couple of years.  I think running a marathon there would be awesome (if I could run marathons...hehehehe).  My Mom has lived in Texas for over 40 years, but she still longs for her ND "home".  That song "I\'ll Be Home For Christmas" puts her into tears every single time!!!!!---

Don\'t call the funeral home to reserve a room just yet!  I think you\'ll be OK. :)
It\'s hard to resist the temptation to act like a recovered person when you get the least lil bit of energy.  Just really push the water and get your feet up.  Within a few days, you\'ll feel better than ever.
Sorry you overdid it, but the good news is that you felt that good at less than 3 weeks PO.  Way to go! \"\"---

Well, Im not too much further out than you and I couldn\'t even imagine dancing LOl!  I hope you had fun though. \":-P\"   I think if you put your feet up and relax, you\'ll be fine.  You don\'t feel like you pulled anything do you?  You could take some ibuprofin to minimize that swelling...that\'s what my PS suggested.  They said "take 600 mg at least twice a day even if you\'re feeling fine...it\'ll reduce swelling"  I\'m not sure about the burning you\'re having, I only had burning in my abs the first 2 or 3 days PO.
Hope you\'re feeling better soon!---

Yeah...he is amazing LOL!  I\'ve also healed really fast.  Have you met Debbie his wife?  She is SO NICE!  Actually, everyone at his office is nice.  I really like the fact that he comes to Jamestown once a month.  It makes it so much easier to run down there for appointments, etc.
