question for vets about swelling..
« on: December 30, 2007, 09:46:00 pm »
Not everyone gets major swelling. I\'m almost 7mos out and though I still swell it\'s really only during my period and most days I\'m pretty flat. I know I read a post from someone that they didn\'t get any swelling. I know you read alot about swelling but there are a few out there that don\'t. I think someone said that after a year or so the swelling subsides. HTH.---

I\'m not that far out, 4 months. But I dont swell much at all, and it just an annoyance. I wouldnt say it is painful or even discomfort. It has not been a big deal for me.---

Not everyone has major swelling.  I\'m less than four months out and I really haven\'t had any swelling issues to speak of.  Sure, I was swollen for the first couple of weeks, but after about a month I settled in and haven\'t had any problems since then.  I went on vacation for the first two weeks in December and ate and drank anything I wanted, and still looked awesome in my bikini.  Since getting home with Christmas and everything, I\'m still eating and drinking lots of wine;  no swelling.  I have picked up about four pounds, but they will go after tomorrow!!---

Its been 4 months since my surgery almost, less a week and I feel pretty good. Not very much swelling anymore at all. Maybe the upper abs at night sometimes and still dont sleep on my tummy which I heard can last a year.
Swelling is due to lipo not the tummy tuck itself so I advise if you dont need it opt not to have it. I didnt need it and he did it, I didnt know he was gonna. Never mentioned it in the consult. But ya try to work around the lipo. My friend healed in a couple weeks without it.
Good Luck

I honestly haven\'t read the swelling posts lately, but in the past, I have never read about anyone having permanent swelling!!!

My TT was 6 years ago.---

I\'m 6.5 weeks post op and am swelling very, very little if at all.  What little I do have late in the day I don\'t think is noticeable to anyone but me.  I\'ve never been a sweller though.  I never swelled or bloated with my periods and salt and such never caused me a problem.  About the only time I ever swell is when I fly and that\'s limited to my ankles and lower legs mostly.  Don\'t sweat it sweetie, it is so worth it swelling and all.  (((hugs)))---

I\'m too am 6.5 weeks post-op, and if I have any swelling, it is very little, doesn\'t affect the way the clothes fit.  Give yourself 6 months to a year is what the general consensus is around here.  You\'ll be fine, and know too that swelling is NORMAL after MAJOR surgery!  It is all a natural and normal part of the healing process. So don\'t worry, you will do just fine, don\'t let this swelling issue get in the way of you looking forward to coming into the Flatlands!

Also, we are our own worse critics - and if I tell you \'look at my photos I look so swollen\' you might say, \'What swelling, I don\'t see any swelling on you\'.  So swelling can be a lot of what we, in our own minds, and eyes looks like a ton of swelling, but in reality isn\'t all that bad.  So be easy on yourself, it might come and go in varying degrees.---

I\'m around 3 months post op now after having a full ff, bl/br and lipo to flanks and hips.  I have hardly had any swelling and I too am mostly flat.  Since having my op I have really taken things easy and worn my comp garment for most of the time and only stopped wearing it this week.

I honestly think the main thing you must do after your op is take things easy for the first couple of months to give your body a chance to recover.

It is sooooooooooooooo worth it!!!!1---

I had my full TT and Lipo on upper/inside thighs and hips on Dec. 19th.  My lower legs and feet are so swollen!  I basically have "cankles".  I haven\'t been able to wear shoes at all.  I bought a pair of shoes last night a size bigger than what I normally wear just so I can go out with my family and leave the fuzzy pink slippers at the house!  I\'m also still swollen around my mid-section as well.  I just can\'t wait til it goes away.  Even for just a little bit so I can get some idea of how I\'m going to look.  I realize I\'m only 2 weeks (this Wed.) out.  Has anyone else had this kind of swelling with their feet/ankles like me?  How long did it take for it to subside?

I have some swelling, but it\'s not that bad. I notice that each month is getting better and better. The swelling is so worth it!---
