off topic= question on best cruise ship
« on: April 29, 2006, 05:59:00 pm »
Hey Debbie,
Several years ago we went on the Carnival Cruise Line - we enjoyed ourselves.  It is definitely a "party" ship.  If that\'s what you want that\'s fine.  We didn\'t spend much time in our room so I\'m glad we didn\'t spend extra on that but we had a good time.  We were pooped when we got home cause we partied a bit too much. Everything was included but the drinks - food is fantastic. We met alot of nice people - that ship had about 1500 on the cruise.  We went to Cozumel, Ocho Rios and the Grand Cayman and then back to Miami and flew back home.  All in all, we had a good time!
Good luck!:)---

Hi Debbie,
The ship we went on was the Mardi Gras but I think they have retired that one now.  They have so many new ones.  Either of those cruises you had listed sound great.  You will love the Cayman Islands, absolutely breathtaking - it\'s beautiful.  Now the others, where they ported us at we got off and it wasn\'t tourist type material.  Not like going to the resorts - so I wasn\'t all together thrilled with them.  We flew out of Miami too.
Also, we went 1 week and I was pooped when we got home.  It\'s a hustle bustle vacation - trust me.  At least ours was.  You are kind of on a schedule cause when the ship ports that\'s your time to see things.  So, with that being said, you will be busy if you get off and see the sights.  I had a good time but I kind of like the relaxing vacations now - the lay around by the pool kind of stuff.  Now, you can do that on the ship when you are sailing and of course, when you port if you want too.  You will have a good time but if it were me - I would do a shorter one the next time.  That\'s just me though!
Love,
Rita---

thanks Rita!
my thoughts were also, we won\'t be in the room that much. was thinking of this one, do you know anything about it?  what was the name of the carnival ship you went on?

7-night Caribbean-Western (Fort Lauderdale roundtrip)
Cruise line:  Princess
Ship name:  Caribbean Princess
Ports of call:  Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Princess Cays, Bahamas; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

or

 7-night Caribbean-Eastern (Fort Lauderdale roundtrip)
Cruise line:  Princess
Ship name:  Caribbean Princess
Ports of call:  Fort Lauderdale, Florida; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Island of St. Martin-Maarten, Guadeloupe; Princess Cays, Bahamas; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

I\'m wondering if we shouldn\'t cut it to 5 nights too.---

I went on the Princess cruises. The ship was called the golden princess. It was alot of fun and a very nice ship. I went to the spa a few times while i was there and went swimming, shopping, and had lots of good food =p
We went and saw a comedian and a magician. =)
It was a very nice ship and we\'ve booked another one for within 4 years. You get a discount I guess.
They h ave a new ship now that has an outdoor movie theatre. Pretty kewl =)
Hope that helps.
