Why do you need porex instead of ear/rib cartlige? Is there anything special in your case?  I got the impression in this board that top docs do not like to use artificial material.

» Princess,
»
» I have porex in my nose and I consider it one of the worst mistakes I have
» ever made.  The company will say the product lasts forever.  It does not.
» I am missing parts of the graft and it has now broken and you can see the
» break of the graft in my nose.  Also, there is pain from the graft.  When
» I asked Toriumi about the pain, he said that is also very common with the
» graft as well.
»
» When you have problems later down the line with the porex and more than
» likely you will, it will be hard for to find a surgeon to remove it, plus
» that is a difficult graft to remove for even a skilled surgeon.
»
»
» Please take my advice.  Don\'t get the porex graft.  Find somebody to
» rebuild your bridge with rib instead.  Trust me, you will be better off.

Getting an artificial graft is probably one of the worst things you can do for your nose.  There are safety issues with grafts, a lot of them want to protrude thru the nose as well. You have to deal with the discomfort the placement and movement of the graft as well.  E-mail me and I will tell you who the doctor was who did the surgery.

Do a keyword search on "porex" in the top right search box.

There\'s several posts regarding this subject.

I first had silicone.  terrible result, crooked and very unnatural looking because it looked so stiff, although somehow my looks improved significantly (judging on the way men stared or approached me wherever I went... really odd!).

I then had ear cartilage implant.  Even more terrible.  I could go to halloween party without a mask.  And I could tell I looked worse as I stopped being a head turner.

Third time, I got medpor (not really want that.  All I wanted was to have my original nose back, but while I was under anesthesia, the surgeon decided to implant medpor because he said my original bridge was gone because the second surgeon must have scrapped it off to implant the ear cartilage).  Anyway, I didn\'t like it for almost seven years because my bridge looked so wide and the tip looked thick and the nostrils flared.  I almost got a fourth nose job(third revision), but I didn\'t feel comfortable with the surgeons I was consulted.  And then I met Dr. Scaccia who advised me to keep my nose.  So I did.

One day, I read a post here from someone who had cortisone (?) injection to reduce the swelling on the tip of her nose.  I went to a nurse I know and asked her to inject some cortisone on the sides of the bridge and the tip (after almost seven years the scars still go down from cortisone injection.  It took almost a week to actually see the reduction and the reduction continued for three weeks).  And she then injected Radiesse (cosmetic filler) on the tip of my nose.   I do like it now because the bridge looked straight and narrower, the tip of my nose is finer, the profile looks very nice.

So up to now, I\'ve had medpor for 7 years now.  And it does look natural (although imperfect).
