Marten Girls: What is the recovery like?
« Reply #16 on: July 29, 2007, 09:21:00 am »
I am having "the works" with Dr. Marten in September as follows:
Face/necklift
lips/cheeks fat injections
Temple lift
upper eye lift

What can I expect the 1st week? What do the drains look like and when do they come out? When will I look fairly normal again? I have a 5 year old and I am scared I will terrify her.I am sooo nervous but I hear he does fabulous work. Any thought or advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HELEN

There will be no bandages; the drains will be removed around the fifth day. On the fifth or sixth week you will look good. Don\'t expect to look like your old self because you won\'t. You will be a lot more beautiful. If you are worried about the pain, I did not feel any. You will be well taken cared of; you will be in very good hands.

Are there any before/after pictures of Dr Marten face lifts floating around?  I have heard a lot of positive things about his fl\'s, but have never come across any before/after pictures.  Does he have a website?

Hello there, greetings from the UK.

I am five weeks from undergoing \'the works\' with Dr Marten. I know how helpful feedback has been to me from previous Dr Marten patients (including the lovely Helen who has posted here) so I am more than happy to share my experiences.

I have to say that the recovery has not been as bad as I expected. I\'d psyched myself up for the worst having heard several comments about the horrendous \'Marten recovery period\' so I think that helped maybe. If I\'d been expecting a \'walk in the park\' I would have been sorely dissaponited, so I much prefer this way around.

The fine facial stitches around your eyes and ears will come out around the Day 5 mark (mine came out Tuesday following surgery on Friday) and the rest of the sutures & drains will be out by Day 8. I have to say Dr Marten\'s suturing rocks! I can neither see nor feel any evidence of suturing around my ears and I would defy anyone, even with a magnifying glass, to detect any sign of surgery. Some of the first stitches nipped a little when they came out, but I fely nothing when the second set were removed. Moreover, I felt NOTHING when the drains came out. I was so relieved, I\'d got myself all worked up thinking it would be painful, nothing could be further from the truth thank goodness.

I went and did a little shopping on Day 5 after the first set of sutures were removed. I looked a bit of a sight, but hey I was 5000 miles from home and unlikely to bump into anybody I knew. I felt better for getting out and getting some fresh air, but I was flagging after a couple of hours and returned to the hotel.

Will you be staying at the Crowne Plaza? I found it very convenient being so close to Dr Marten\'s office that first week. Once the final sutures & drains were out, we transferred to a home rental in Sausalito for the second week, before flying back to the UK - being near the water and the tranquility of Sausalito was lovely.

Will you be staying in Dr Marten\'s overnight facility on the first post-op night? I would say it\'s essential and if you end up getting Tina to take care of you you\'ll be just fine, she\'s an absolute angel!

Sorry for such a long post. I hope\'s that\'s helpful.

Please send me an e-mail and I can share more with you.

With all best wishes.

Thank you so much, my email id is ner@rogers.com.  I don\'t know if I could ever get a stunning result, but would like to get an idea of what is possible.  Were you the gal that just had a f/l with him about a month ago?
If so, how is the healing going?

Hello,

I too am in need of a facelift and some twicking to make me look better, I live 2 hours from Dr. Martin.  I have been lurking on this board since 2005 and I have not yet come across a before after work of Dr. Martin :_( .  I do have the artical but no one wants to share pictures.  Do you have any before and after pictures that you are willing to share?  :)  I would love to see his work.

Thank you,

Marcie

I came across Dr Marten here on the board a couple of years ago. He\'s not been featured here so much in recent months, all part of the ebb & flow of message board traffic I guess.

hi,
I am 37 and have suffered for the last 8years with really bad dark circles under my eyes as the fat has dropped and left me with hollow infraorbital rims. I also have a slightly drooping top lid which does'nt bother me so much but if i'm going to have face work might as well deal with it.

I have seen a couple surgeons in the US and they both agree on what needs to be done but they have different opinions on how to do it.  One is for the infraorbital rim implants with the mid-face lift and the other is for the mid face lift with fat injections around the eye.  Both not only claim their method is better but also the other alternative has major side effects - implants with the infection problems as well as the need to still use fillers to help concel them under the skin and fat grafting being non reversable incase of any uneveness or lumpiness.

Anyway long story short a very close friend of mine who is also a plastic surgeon and refuses to touch my face as she is a big fan of Dr Timothy Marten and feels obliged to tell me there is someone better out there she thinks i should go to who she feels will do wonders to my face.  She says his work is great as it is very natural and subtle which she insists is what is needed for me since i'm generally younger than most patients seeking this work.

I can't find much info about him, no website or pics or anything.  from what i understand my friends says he would do the mid face lift and lid lift and then use fat to inject around my eyes and possibly cheek areas.  I Understand from her the recovery is long and can look really scary which is freaking me out. I have issues with the process not being reversible incase there is uneveness and also the possibility of lots of absorption and the need to do it again!

Has anyone done that work with him and if so would yo ube willing to share your thoughts and pics?  I am very concerned about the recovery time as i would not be able to take more than 2 weeks off work and need to know how hideous my face would look.  Bigger problem than that is freaking my young kids out too!

any experience with this dr or photos or a website any of you know about would be great!
Thanks!
