Moxie and who had lip suspension
« on: December 20, 2007, 06:02:00 am »
Is it true that after suspension the upper lip will always feel pulled and unnatural? A PS told me that. I wonder if it\'s true or due to him not really knowing about this procedure. How does the upper lip feel after recovery? Does it affect any lip functon? How does it feel like to have a little opening in the mouth?

Sorry I sound so clinical. It seems rather novel and exotic to have air coming into the mouth unobstructed. Of course it looks exotic and sexy too! :) That\'s why I\'m considering it.:P

The recovery from this procedure is extremely quick.  After about two weeks, I could not feel the threads at all and had completely normal functioning of the lip.  Whomever you\'ve been talking to is incorrect.  (I\'m going to guess Dr. Garcia) How does it feel to have a little opening in the mouth?  Hmmm... like being a kid again.

A couple of years after I had the suspension, Dr. Grasseschi came on board at the clinic I go to. (Same place where The Fabulous Dawn Davidson works doing injectables that everyone raves about here. www.ritaccalasercenter.com)  He did my face lift revision a year ago, and then I found out he does his own version of an Italian Lip Lift, where he does not cut across the colummella.  I had him do that for me this September because he could shorten my upper lip a bit more than can be done with the suspension and there are no visible scars.  So there are a couple of options out there for you.  BTW, Dr. Ritacca is the one that did my suspension.---

The incisions are hidden in the nostrils, so there are scars, they\'re just hidden well.  Here is a link to my one day post surgery pics.  You can clearly see where the sutures and incisions are.  The pics are a bit bloody and gross, be warned:  http://www.lipaugmentation.com/forum/board_entry.php?id=14580#p14580

My after pics are in the middle of this thread, scroll down about midway:  http://www.facialplasticsurgery.net.../board_entry.php?id=73776#p73776

Nice lip with a nice curl! Now I\'m very tempted!

Thanks Moxie, I will search more on this and read up on it.

I dont understand what you mean when you say a lip lift gives a person an
 opening in the mouth!sounds odd!\":-|\"

Not odd at all, it just means it gives you some upper tooth show which is an attractive and youthful trait to have.

Moxie,

I tried searching your old threads for this question.

From your original lip, how many millimeters did the suspension raise your lip vs how many millimeters did the lip lift raise it?

I think you started off at around 23mm from your nose?

Excellent question.  Measuring precisely isn\'t easy.  I started out with my lip being 23mm.  The suspension raised it about 3mm.  Dr. G. took the threads out and now my lip is 16mm.  (Now that 100% of the swelling is gone, it has dropped about 1mm from what I had originally posted a couple of months ago) So it\'s 7mm shorter from the lift than it was when I began.  Not bad for being undetectable.  Sure, wish I could say it was 12mm shorter, but that\'s just not going to happen without cutting across the colummella, and from what I\'ve read on these boards, except for Chris K., surprisingly even the gals that had a bullhorn usually only end up with 2-5mm taken out.

Thanks Moxie. That\'s great to know! Do you know where I can go to read more about Dr. Grasseschi\'s version of lip lift? There is little info on this procedure when I go to www.ritaccalasercenter.com. It actually refers back to this forum for info. Where is the scar? How is it possible to remove some skin from above upper lip without visible scars? I will definitely look through the posts here, but is there a place where they have more clinical explanation?
