question is, why can\'t she see her surgeon? He/she should be available for this kind of stuff or have another MD on call if he isn\'t. Let me know...

Nose surgery

,
I am hoping someone out there could give me some advice. A friend of mine had a nose job two weeks ago for cosmetic reasons. The cast
was removed one week ago. Since the operation she has not had any sensation
in her top lip, she cannot feel it or move it, ie. When she smiles the upper
lip does not move. The rest of her face is unaffected. She still has
swelling around her nose and eyes.

What is the cause of the lack of sensation in the upper lip?
Could it be due to nerve damage?
How could nerve damage occur in such an operation?
If it is not nerve damage what could the cause of this be?
If it is nerve damage what are the chances of recovery?
If it is something other than nerve damage what are the chances of recovery?
Could this be a temporary problem?

She is extremely worried and unable to see her surgeon for several days.
Please help.

hi..

Apologies!! i could see the post only now...however if the problem is still persisting..i would say this could be a nerve or medication problem. In case of a nerve problem the whole thing would take more amount of time to be recovered. This is because the nerves dis-orient themselves and it would be better if the doctor could throw some light on the same.Medication effects are not prolonging and it would not take much time for recovery.I tried to put up a point if the problem still persists ..i would suggest if you could throw some more light on the problem
